News !

Former Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher is set to head into the studio shortly to begin working on new material with a friend.

After fifteen years in the whirlwind of Oasis, you could forgive Noel Gallagher for wanting to take a breather. The band's untimely split back in 2009 has been followed by a period of silence from the songwriter.

An appearance on Talksport with Russell Brand was followed by two shows at the Royal Albert Hall. Taking part in the Teenage Cancer Trust series, Noel Gallagher refused to play new material at what are his only live engagements of 2010.

Working slowly on his solo album, Noel Gallagher recently revealed that he is planning to enter a recording studio "this week". However it won't be for his own material, with the singer set to play drums for a friend.

Refusing to name who the mystery collaborator is, the guitarist insisted that the public would know who he is. Continuing, Noel Gallagher said that he is someone he has "thrown up" with in the past.

Noel Gallagher is an experienced drummer, and played with Proud Mary before. For the bulk of the early Oasis material the singer wrote out the drum parts then handed them to original drummer Tony McCarroll.

Elsewhere, Noel Gallagher told Talksport that he is set to take part in Russell Brand's stag do. The comedian is getting married this winter to Katy Perry, with close friends organising a no doubt debauched bash in his honour.

Tabloid rumour had suggested that the guitarist was set to be the comedian's best man, but Noel Gallagher ruled this out.

Meanwhile, Liam Gallagher has opened a Pretty Green 'pop up shop' in Carnaby Street. A new move for the fashion venture, it comes as his new group Beady Eye put down new material.

Beady Eye are set to release their debut album later this year.
